Overview of the Position:
The Maine State Chamber of Commerce is seeking a positive, self-motivated, creative, team-oriented, collaborator, and visionary as their next Director of Events & Programs. The Director of Events & Programs will work closely with State Chamber team members to organize, plan, coordinate and execute a wide range of events ranging from webinars to large (600+ in-person) events across Maine as well as assist with developing and distributing various communications, social media, and branding materials.
The Director of Events & Programs for the Maine State Chamber of Commerce (MSCC) is responsible for managing existing events and programs as well as developing new programs and events that align with the mission of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce.

Requirements:
· Must be available for early morning events, evening events, and must be willing to travel for events for 2+ days at a time.
· Ability to collaborate with Chamber staff, president/CEO, and others to accurately complete work assignments.
· Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to a calculator, copy / scanner machine, printers, projector, TV.
· Occasionally, must be able to manually move up to 50 pounds across long distances to assist with event setup.

This position is based at the MSCC office in Augusta with travel inside and outside of Maine. Remote work is available when appropriate.

Position Responsibilities Include:
- Plan, organize, and oversee all State Chamber events and programs, bringing fresh concepts forward that align with the mission of the MSCC. These events include but are not limited to networking events for members and leadership, Leadership Summit, Annual Meeting & Dinner, Scramble for Scholars Golf Tournament, DC Fly-In, Regional Breakfast meetings, a wide range of policy focused webinars or in-person events, Senior Leaders of Tomorrow events (Sojourn Partners), Maine Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Spring & Fall Conferences and more.
- Oversee Maine Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE) program. This includes facilitating monthly MACCE board meeting and membership meetings, working with Chamber finance director to maintain accurate bookkeeping and record keeping, managing all aspects of MACCE conferences, website, and Facebook administrator for MACCE.
- Responsible for event & program development from start to finish including development of detailed and efficient programs, creating, and executing event timelines with effective deadlines to ensure success. Event execution items responsible for will include graphic design, sponsorship & marketing, writing designing and sending communications, developing PowerPoint presentations, engaging with participants/speakers for events, creating event agendas, securing event locations & overseeing and executing all event logistics.
- Director of Events & Programs is also responsible for coordinating staff assignments, execution of event, post event details, managing each event & program budget, and assisting with financial tracking.
- The Director of Programs & Events will assist Communications team in the design, production, layout, and output of a wide range of promotional and print materials for the organization (such as photos, graphic design, social media posts, branding materials, print media, newsletters, program booklets, magazines, etc.) as well as develop post event and program communications/thank you to event sponsors, partners, and participants for communications department.
- Assist Communications team when needed in creating, initiating, and monitoring online paid and nonpaid promotions and campaigns.
- Work with Advertising & Sponsorship team to ensure proper and timely placement of advertisements purchased by sponsors and ensure sponsorship deliverables.
- Assist as needed with MSCC board meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations and President/CEO.
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, hospitality management, business, public relations, communications, or a related field of study
- At least five years of experience working in event planning and project management, hosting both webinars and large in-person events, or experience working in a related field.
- Strong business acumen
- Proven experience creating and developing new events and programs, helping an organization to grow financially.
- Excellent written, oral, and public speaking skills with strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Experience using the following computer software:
- Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Zoom
- Constant Contact
- Word Press
- Google Workspace
- Canva
- Avery online
- Adobe suite
- Project Management software
