Public Policy Committees
As The Voice of Maine Business at the State House, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce advocates on behalf of employers across the state—speaking out on hundreds of public policy issues each legislative session.
One of the most impactful ways members can get involved is by participating in our public policy committees. These committees are open exclusively to Chamber members and offer a direct path to influence the issues that affect your business and Maine’s economy.
Each committee brings together engaged members who meet regularly during the legislative session to discuss legislation, share insights, and help shape the Chamber’s policy positions. Working closely with our Board of Directors and expert advocacy team, these committees ensure that when the Chamber speaks, it speaks with the voice of its members.
If you have questions or would like to get involved, please contact the advocacy team member listed with each committee.
Energy, Environment, and Technology
The Chamber’s largest committee, this group reviews environmental, energy, and technology policy issues in Maine. Its scope is broad—ranging from air quality and solid waste management to land use regulations, water resources, data privacy, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. Members of this committee help ensure that Maine’s business perspective is heard in conversations that impact sustainability, innovation, and the future of our state’s economy.

Inclusion
At the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, inclusion is at the heart of how we lead, operate, and serve. We approach it through multiple lenses: as individual Mainers and community members, as an employer, and as a statewide business organization representing 5,000 employers of all sizes and sectors. Our commitment to inclusion means continuously learning, improving, and being intentional in our efforts to create a workplace—and a business community—where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging. We’re proud to partner with organizations like Inclusion Maine and to invest in ongoing education and action. Our board-level Inclusion Committee is focused on ensuring the Chamber is a place where all staff and board members, present and future, feel valued, respected, and supported. This includes regular training, open dialogue, and continuous review of our policies and practices to align with our values.
