A Message from our President, Dana Connors...

    As we start this new year, all of us at the Maine State Chamber send you best wishes for a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2021.
    The year 2020 presented unprecedented hardships and uncertainty. While difficulties are still to come as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, a new administration in the White House, and the recent unspeakable violence in Washington, D.C., there is no question that Maine’s future holds great promise.

    We know this because we have seen Maine’s fortitude, resilience, and character reflected in the ways Maine people and Maine’s business community have rallied together since the start of the pandemic. It has been truly inspiring.
    In the months ahead, we will have more opportunities to come together to address the important issues before us. We are confident that, together, we will succeed in helping Maine’s economy, workforce, and people continue to recover strongly.
    We also are confident that the distinct qualities Maine possesses offer great advantages. It is clearer than ever that Maine is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
    We will continue to advocate for you and keep you informed and connected through virtual events and more (see page 11). This month, we are hosting “On the Horizon: What to expect in the next Legislative Session” and “Meet the Commissioners.” In February, we will be hosting the fourth in our series of STEM Workforce Development webinars.
    On February 4-5, we will host our annual Leadership Summit (see page 10). While it will be held virtually this year due to COVID-19, the event will continue its tradition of providing a unique opportunity for business leaders to discuss critical public policy issues with state and legislative leaders.
    We also are excited to share expanded member participation opportunities through the establishment of two new committees – one that focuses on racial justice, and the other on COVID-19’s impact on Maine businesses and the economy.
