Education Leaders Experience connects Maine’s education leaders with business and policy leaders and employers

Education Leaders Experience (ELE) is a yearlong, unique professional development program for education leaders in Maine. ELE, developed and funded by Unum, is designed to connect Maine’s education leaders with business and policy leaders and employers around the state. Educate Maine administers the program for Unum in partnership with Maine Principals’ Association, and University of New England online.

Lambda Class, the eleventh cohort of ELE, kicked off their year on August 1 at their Opening Retreat at Sugarloaf with presentations and discussions on Maine’s economy, education leadership, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Maine State Chamber of Commerce President Dana Connors participated in a panel on how Maine’s economy and education intersect, along with Heather Johnson, Maine Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development; Katie Shorey from Live and Work in Maine; and, Scott Lavertu from Sugarloaf Mountain Resort.

The 27 members of the Lambda Class are teachers, administrators from K-12 schools, CTE Centers, higher education, and nonprofits from around the state who are looking forward to a great year of criss-crossing the state exploring Maine businesses in a variety of workforce sectors. In October, Lambda Class will visit the University of Maine and then travel to Aroostook County.
