An exciting year ahead for E2Tech!

As you can imagine, we’ve got an exciting year ahead. At E2Tech, we’re known for our informative forums and events, and for bringing people together around growing business and “doing well by doing good.” All of our efforts are nonpartisan, and we do not lobby or advocate. Several forums are planned which are important for readers to know about.

On Tuesday, January 28, E2Tech will hold its Legislative Clean Energy Day at the Maine State House in the Legislative Council chambers. This lunchtime event is a chance for E2Tech members and guests to meet their representatives, as well as see the House and Senate in action. We’ll feature a short presentation, an informative and unbiased comparison of Maine energy policy to that of other New England states. 

Everyone is talking about the electrical grid and how it must be modernized to accommodate new technologies, distributed generation, and provide more resilient, reliable service, all while keeping electricity prices low. Over the next 20 years, big decisions must be made in Maine about where and when to invest in upgrading the distribution and transmission system in the State while considering whether it would be cheaper to develop “non-wires alternatives”. These alternatives to poles and wires could energy storage, demand response, efficiency or distributed generation. E2Tech will be hosting a forum on this important topic on February 6. It will be a great opportunity to learn more as well as meet the people behind the work. 

March and April will bring more informative E2Tech forums. Events are planned for green building professionals and for cleantech entrepreneurs. We’ll also explore the work of the Maine Climate Council. Visit E2Tech.org to stay up to date.
 
E2Tech is a member-based organization made up of individuals, businesses, and organizations that seek to build Maine's environmental and energy technology economy. Members include renewable power companies, environmental engineers, emerging entrepreneurs, innovators and designers, as well as government agencies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and businesses that see the economic promise of cleantech for Maine. Cleantech is broadly defined as any process, technology, product, or service that reduces negative environmental impact. This can be through significant energy efficiency improvements, the sustainable use of resources, or environmental protection activities. Cleantech advocates and champions include many traditional Maine businesses and many in new and emerging industries.
